ABOUT ME

Hi everyone, my name is Gar DeGeer.  I was born and raised in Midland, MI.  I graduated from Midland High School and went to college at Delta College in Freeland, MI.  I married in 1966.  My wife, Ande, and I moved to Georgia in 1980. I've had several occupations through my lifetime.  I've done photographic equipment sales and sports equipment sales.  For twenty-eight years I did purchasing, equipment sales, architectural supplies sales, and large format reproductions for architects and engineers at Imaging Technologies Services in Atlanta, GA. I'm now happily retired, doing the things I want to do.

I had a unique hobby.  Ande and I raised and showed American Shorthair cats for over thirty years.  We had the privilege of having CFA's 1983-84 CAT OF YEAR, GCNW Hedgewood's Greatest American Hero, DM.  He was named after the character that was popular on a television series during that time.   His call name was Mr. H.  Since Mr. H, Ande, and I have had several national and regional winners.  I can honestly say that showing the cats was an experience of a lifetime.  I had the honor of showing almost every state in the lower 48 states and Canada.  It seemed like there wasn't a city or state that I went to that I didn't know someone.  What an exciting experience!

For the most part Ande and I have retired from showing cats, but we now have a new love of our lives, a super pet, an English Bulldog (go Dawgs!) named Veni.  What a dog, we have so much in common.  We sleep a lot -- get up early and go to bed early.  We enjoy our food and don't get enough exercise.  She even has three step stools to allow her on the couch next to Ande, or to me, OR her own lawn chair on the deck. Now if I could only stop her from snoring, not Ande, the dog.

Another hobby I have is gardening.  Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year.  The colors and smells are so exciting.  Home Depot and Lowe's are my favorite places to shop.  There's always something new and the spring colors are exciting after a dreary winter.  See our container gardens.

Now that I'm living in the relaxed lap of retirement, my wife Ande is attempting to teach me website design.  I thought that I knew something about it, wrong!  I'll get it sooner or later.  Someday I might even be of some help. Right now Ande and her partner are involved with three companies that are doing very well, www.Ad-Design.Biz, www.Lease-A-Website.biz, and www.u-Edit.biz.

Every day is filled with new and exciting challenges.
